Promotional Items which do you like to receive?

In business, we all receive Promotional Items now and again. I very much enjoy getting them, and even more, I like giving them away to friends and family. I have managed to equip all the kids with MP3 players a full set of promotional pens, pencils and a calculator each, and as many Post-it notes, as they will ever need. In January, I spent a bit of time asking colleagues what corporate gifts they have enjoyed or best remembered. This was not idle curiosity we were planning a new sales push to get some more orders from the less active part of the current customer base and Promotional Gifts will be a significant part of this. I looked at a number of suppliers of Corporate Gifts online and found that www.internetbuyerdirect.co.uk seemed to have the widest range of promotional products. However, I was left with a problem because beyond the usual USB drives, promotional pens, promotional keyrings, promotional clothing, promotional bags, promotional mugs, promotional shirts, promotional umbrellas and the usual promotional golf products they have a vast range of other promotional gifts.

I needed help to decide I rather thought that many of our customers being practical people might like some of the tool kits for car or home but these are not corporate gifts for all. In particular, some of my colleagues were very doubtful about promotional umbrellas, promotional golf products and especially promotional keyrings citing all sorts of cogent arguments about these as unsatisfactory promotional gifts for many recipients, the problem with keyrings for instance that almost everybody has one already. Another thing that came out of these discussions was to hold one or two corporate days at the horse races as an additional part of the marketing campaign. Nevertheless, promotional items will remain central to the marketing campaign, almost everybody agreed it would be a good way to get our customers attention. Fortuitously we were also able to link the campaign to a new product release, by changing a previously scheduled event to be a few days later. Now time was getting short we had to make a decision on the products that we wanted.

The final decision was the for the following promotional products a selection of mouse mats, promotional mugs, good quality promotional clothing mostly promotional shirts and baseball caps. For no particular reason that I remember we did not include Promotional bags among our selected promotional products. We then spent some time getting the logo and message right before agreeing for quantity production of these corporate gifts. How has the campaign gone so far? Well it is early days and these are difficult times for sales but so far quite well. One thing we found quite unexpectedly is that obliging the sales force to visit in person to give the gifts was very good in introducing new salespeople to the customer and new customer staff to our sales people, many of the sales managers thought that this was a very good thing.
